Phishing for the big catch

Millions of dollars are being lost by unsuspecting people on the internet.
Phishing involves sending out an electronic lure, often in the form of a deceptive email or link to a website, that entices people to reveal personal data such as bank account numbers or passwords.
If you receive such a request, don’t bite!

Native survivors

Northern Territory researchers have found two rare species of Boronia plants that survived Cyclone Monica, after it was feared they had been destroyed. The researchers have collected seeds from the plants, which they will now try to grow to rebuild the nearly extinct species.

What’s in a name?

The king of Thailand’s full ceremonial name is Phrabat Somdej Phra Paramindra Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej Mahitaladhibet Ramadhibodi Chakrinarubodindara Sayamindaradhiraj Boromanatbophit.
The locals call their much loved monarch “King Rama the 9th.” Thailand celebrated the 60th anniversary of his reign earlier this year.

What am I?

I have the skills of a superhero as I fly, hang upside down, spit poison, use X-ray vision and walk on water. To hunt, I use chemical warfare, strength and stealth. To attract mates I put on shows of astonishing colour, movement and display. What am I? I am a reptile! Sources : ABC, BBC and Scientific American.

79 Years Ago in SIGNS

In the September 26, 1927 Signs of the Times, a lecture was reviewed given by DG Meryers in Danjar, NSW, earlier that month. The lecture outlined the fearful days ahead.

With subtitles such as “The spirit of panic and fear,” “Modern knowledge and evil,” “Perilous days have come” and “Selfish, proud and blasphemous,” it was made clear that this world is heading away from what God created it to be and toward evil and destruction. It ended with a reminder that “Just as surely as the final crises was reached in the days of Noah, so humanity is rushing today with frightful velocity to the final crisis of all human history.”

Now 79 years later, these descriptions still fit.
